    Scholarly profiles

Associate Professor in the Department of Bio-industrial Mechatronics Engineering, National Chung Hsing University, and Director of the Agricultural Automation Center. The work is built on signal and image processing, and spans three settings: biomedical signals, machine-tool condition monitoring, and precision agriculture and livestock farming.

On the biomedical side the work began with brain imaging and EEG analysis in schizophrenia research, and extended to non-contact physiological measurement such as respiratory signals recovered from thermal video. In smart manufacturing it covers machine-tool vibration signals, thermal error compensation and tool-wear monitoring. In agriculture and livestock farming, multimodal image recognition is combined with large language models and retrieval-augmented generation to build decision support for lameness detection, heat stress and calving alerts, carried into the field through NSTC and Ministry of Agriculture projects. Recipient of the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award from the Graduate Institute of Automation and Control, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology.

Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Chin-Yi University of Technology. The work spans four core areas: systems engineering and control, automated imaging and vision, information technology and system integration, and precision metrology.

In systems engineering the focus is system modelling, including an NSTC Young Scholar Fellowship project that applies precision schlieren systems to wake measurement and monitoring across wind-turbine arrays. In imaging and vision the group develops adaptive multi-ellipse fitting, automated defect inspection and dynamic colour schlieren, covering both micro-defect inspection and airflow visualisation. In information technology and system integration the work centres on lightweight deep-learning models for edge deployment, and on industrial knowledge-management platforms built with large language models and retrieval-augmented generation. In precision metrology it covers respiratory signal extraction from thermal video, thermal dynamic compensation and airflow measurement.
